On the 'dehumanization' scale I think 'dill weed' is a one and 'orc' is a ten. In Eastern Europe, everyone actually likes dill, and it makes sense from a linguistic point of view (Ukropi --> Ukrainian)

@dota2videoclips754 You forgot 'enko' which is probably the most common.

Most Americans couldn't point out where Ukraine or Russia were on a map.

@sk-sm9sh 1. This movement of peoples took place in the Russian empire and before (Hello, Mongol and Tatar invasions!). 2. A lot of the movement was voluntary, and even welcomed. Until this war there were dozens of statues of Pushkin around Ukraine because he spent like 6 months in the country (and never wrote a single line of 'Ukrainian'.

I don't idolize Putin but he loves his country and has turned it around. During the Yeltsin regime the place was looted by 'oligarchs' like Khodorkovsky. Male life expectancy plunged ten years. Putin has reversed that. And while he and his cronies may profit from Russia, at least they have given something back.

A similar, though not quite the same, thing happens in the US. The kids that died in a disportionate amount in the Iraq/Afhanistan conflicts of the 2000s and early 2010s were disproportionately lower middle class white males. In California, for example, the high school who had most of the dead (seven) was Clovis HS, i.e. from a small town on the eastern side of the San Joaquin valley, a very rural larger area (if not the town). All seven were white, with Anglo-Saxon surnames.
