Here's a thing though, there has been so much recent Mexican immigration that the Chicano culture is pretty much swamped. The new immigrants are more attached to their own state in Mexico than to any notion of Chicanoness.

There was a huge Japanese/Japanese American community in Orange County. They owned a lot of the farms, even after WWII and the relocation. There still are many, it's just that the entire population of the county grew so much and of course many have intermarried.
