Western hatred of Russia goes a long long way back, at least to the Napoleonic and Crimean war eras. More recently our famed US American Senator and failed pilot John McCaine called Russia a 'gas station masquerading as a country'; countless examples of official American hatred of Russia can be enumerated. Oh, and those shopping cart escalators are really uncommon in the Land of Liberty. Pozdrav iz Kalifornije.

@proudtitanicdenier4300 I don't recall him saying the Russians invented it. The point of the whole thing was that for people of his age and probably 10, maybe 20 years younger our image of Russia is still the Russia of 1991.

@robertsiwek7503 It was an combo oligarchy/theocracy which was constantly trying to push Catholicism on the Russians (in the largest meaning of Russians).
