People should watch or listen to the actual interview. I found Putin's confirmation that there was at least a preliminary deal on the table which had been agreed to to some extent interesting, and the story that Boris Johnson interfered in that negotiation to dissuade the Ukrainian government from continuing even more so. Granted the story isn't exactly new, but Putin's confirmation is important (and it hasn't been denied by Johnson). Just think of the lives that might have been saved...and I believe the territory that the Ukraine wouldn't have lost. And as an American, the primary audience for the interview, Putin's relation of his feelers on NATO membership and common missile defense. And more generally his relationship with B. Clinton and W and how we got where we are. The exchange on possible future negotiations (the most important topic) and the release of Gershkovich was also interesting from a human standpoint. As was the economic discussion. In fact, the whole thing was pretty fascinating and comments on the actual interview on YT generally reflect that sentiment. And on a historical note, I thought Putin was crazy talking about Polish collaboration with Nazi Germany pre-war. But after the interview I 'did the research' (on Wiki) and sure enough, the Poles signed a non-agression pact with Germany in 1934 and basically worked in tandem to pressure Czechoslovakia to cede land. Poles, man, they get such a break in American history textbooks.

@deepinthewoods8078 In the many US wars, the people that have the highest per capita casualties are from our Pacific colonies like Guam. Then its lower middle class white men (overwhelmingly men) especially from rural or semi rural areas. In other words, the marginalized always pay a higher price.

@falconeshield You mean the Georgian violation of the autonomy of South Ossetia, agreed to long before Putin came on the scene.

@Operator8282 I think it was more like two years for Moscow. But yes, Poland, with or without the decaying Lithuanian state, was an aggressor state for a long time. And ideological aggressor which worked hard to convert Orthodox East Slavs to papery. And partially succeeded. Putin actually touched on this in his history lesson.
