@nickj1968 Before this phase of the war Russia had almost twice the per Capita GDP as The Ukraine ona PPP based. Russia was also significantly higher on the Human Development index. Before this phase of the war there were hundreds of thousands of Donbas refugees in Russia and tens of thousands of Ukrainians from elsewhere in The Ukraine worked in Russia.

@RapidAssaultEuro Non Russki Rosiyanini aren't outsiders, the are full citizens of the Russian Federation. Shoigu, as a half Buryat half Ukrainian guy, probably wouldn't be considered Russki, but he's the defense minister. Margarita Simyonian, head of RT, self identifies as Armenian; she certainly isn't an outsider.

@theonlylauri Putin wanted Donbas in Ukraine as a proRussian...or better said s not rabidly anti Russian block. He basically presented Minsk all over again plus Ukrainian neutrality in December 2021. The US refused to negotiate.

@theonlylauri I get so confused with the talking points. Russia supposedly invaded Donbas in 2014...now you are implying it didn't. The Ruble was supposed to be rubble, now you are admitting sanctions failed.
