  1. Pretty sure that Russia didn't want to 'control' the Kievan government other than to not have it in NATO. There have been four separate and independent sources which have said that was object of the March 2022 negotiations which were broken up by the US and the UK (in whose governments there are strong factions that believed Russia' s economy would collapse thus leading to a 'color revolution' and Putin's overthrow. Both Putin and the West miscalculated. It's time to head back to the bargaining table.
