  8. ​ @ThomasBusby A key element in Ukrainian national identity is the language. The go so far as to say the Russians stole the language from them and then constructed an artificial language and that Russians aren't Slavs but Finno-Ugrics who adopted the 'stolen' language.

  34. China hasn't given weapons, just parts that can be used to make weapons. Russia pays for the weapons from the other places, they aren't gifts. And there are few to no Iranians or North Koreans operating or 'training' operators of those weapons in Russia.

  37. ​ @Tryzub-x7t Crimea was an autonomous territory which voted to join Russia in 2014. Donetsk and Lugansk voted for autonomy from Kiev way back in 1994. Russia and Putins position is that the current government in Kiev is illegitimate due to the Majdan coup so all deals are off.

  39. I watched the whole thing and it seemed to me the participant service members were pretty stoked. The band was great. The sun was shining though I understand the day was cold. Putin was on point if a little low energy. The parade commanders including Shoigu were sharp. I didnt get the beating of the drum stick during the 'minute of silence', that was offputting. Of course the British war hungry press focused on the one non mention of nuclear weapon...put referenced 'strategic forces' but didnt actually say the word nuclear.

  49. Sometimes weapons systems just turn out to be bad ideas. See for example the US DDX (or Zumwalt class) destroyers. The Armata is one of these.
