First, he clearly hemmed and hawed and kept trying to obfuscate until being forced to that position. Second, his admission opens up several new avenues for investigation. Does the State actually enforce the law equally. Will it enforce it when someone requests a Merry Christmas cake from a Jewish bakery? Even if there is no existing case, that hypothetical case can be used to show that the Colorado 'Civil Rights' law is too intrusive and amounts to compelled speech.

It's not baking the cake, they offered a generic cake. This is about using the power of the state to compel speech.

@Applecompuser Power. Ideological hegemony. A certain part of the gay community can't stand the thought that anyone, anywhere would not believe that their "marriages" are the same as the kind that further society's existence.

@adamplentl5588 No it isn't. Women in particular tend to become more same sex oriented with age.

@Ser Aeggo Butterworth Isn't abortion a right?

@ftr841 Yes. In fact one DC area bar recently did just that.

@jetlaggedchef6806 All that's fine and dandy, doesn't mean a cake baker has to make you a special cake to celebrate your 'wedding'. And nobody is denying anyone a wedding cake. Make it yourself, find another baker. In fact in states where these sorts of laws are passed, there are bound to be bakers who either don't care or are enthusiastic about your gay marriage.

I was thinking the baker could just put something in the contract to the effect that if he is compelled to produce a cake for a certain event, and not that event on the cake, then he is also going to note that he was compelled to that, in big frosting letters.
