  1. Russian males life expectancy decreased 10 years under Yeltsin and "democracy"...Putin's regime reversed that.

  2.  @EyFmS  Why would it be obvious that life expectancy would plummet, esp. to the extent it did? A 'free market' economy is supposed to improve things...but instead as implemented under Yetsin and Western (largely American) advisors it led to catastrophe. (BTW in 1996 we 'interfered' in Russian elections to keep Yeltsin in power....you can look it up!) Putin's regime turned that around. Yes, it is probably time for him to go, but that's a decision for the Russians. And understanding how things have turned around under his governments is key to understanding why he remains genuinely popular in the country. At any rate this doc is seriously out of date but people are commenting on it like its from last week.

  4. This is 20 years ago at start of Putin regime. Whatever your think of him Putin's government has improved a lot of this.
