  2.  @randomcommenteronyoutube1055  Dude, the irony here is that two military aged males were able to leave Ukraine. They would have been stopped by the Yukes at the border. Yes, the Russians have looked for soldiers hiding among civilians and especially Azov soldiers and those involved in the killing for pro-Russian demonstrators in Odessa in 2014. But normal folks, even military aged males, are apparently free to travel throughout Russia and back to 'the West'. This report is proof of that.

  3. So these people were taken from a war zone, documented, given food and shelter and when they wanted to leave Russia were able to do so. That is not forcible resettlement

  4.  @randomcommenteronyoutube1055  I'm pretty sure the NYT found the saddest stories they could. As far as those held in Russia, I believe the Russians are looking for fighters (you just don't get to blend into the civilian population during a war) and even worse the Azov type folks who for the last eight years and more have served as a paramilitary force against anyone sympathetic to Russia.

  5. Did you watch the whole thing? These people simply travelled across Russia...on Ukrainian documents, and walked out when they reached the border. No smuggling necessary. Maybe set up a find to help with trainnfare

  6.  @laars0001  I think it was "you will be killed" which could simply mean that in an area undergoing urban combat the people were in danger.

  7. @Key Wei Well, I watched and the girl clearly said that while she was offered a Russian passport, when they said she would have to give up her Ukrainian passport, so she declined the Russian passport. She doesn't even say she was pressured. And, btw, since in Russia you need a passport for train travel (likely how she travelled to Estonian border) she did just fine in Russia with her Ukrainian documents. The war is bad enough without making up lies about Russian policies.

  8. No they are simply looking for combatants and more importantly people who have committed crimes in Odessa and Donna's during the conflicts there.

  11.  @orestmakar8562  Crimea was an autonomous region that decided to return to Russia (having become 'Ukraine' only in the 1950s). Both the LNR and DNR were indigenous movements to be free of Kyivan rule, though Russia did support them.

  12.  @MasterCommander.  That was only one case and you have no idea if they had to "work like crazy'. Maybe that girl got money wired from friends or from a humanitarian org. I do think the Russian should house refugees closer to the border, however.

Ironically it is the West who are denying Russians who want to leave visas, so many liberal Russians are going to Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan etc i.e. post Soviet/ Russian empire states. The reason these have easy visas for Russians is that tens...probably hundreds of their citizens work in Russia
