Excellent content. I also never understood the disdainful contempt for the Italian military during the 1930s-1940s outside the perpetuation of anti-Italian stereotypes and a superficial knowledge of the actual strategy and tactics of the single battles. Regardless of ideology (even thought that's important as the failure of Fascism influenced the war performance) and in a strictly military historical sense, the Italian soldiers were particularly as suprisingly dedicated and did most of what they could with their meager means, often outperforming even Germans in the direst in circumstances, from North Africa to Russia, from air to sea, from Fascism to Resistance. People seem to reason in terms of military defeat = military incompetence, which are notoriously different by Clausewitzian definition: a kind of thinking that actually does lead to defeat. There's a lot of misinformation and willful distortion still living deep in the veins of the West that stem from the lack of understanding of history and the most elementary strategic education.
