I took a year of Russian in college just for fun 30 years ago. I have an excellent accent that just came to me without trying hard . . . but I barely know the language anymore. The panicked lock downs persisting past early summer were a definite mistake, though, as was the inordinate quest for an immunization. I wish I could time-travel and see what the historians will write about this mass panic.

  43.  @Capitalismrules  They both had terrible responses, but Trump's was less opportunistic and more straightforward in the beginning. I have been through a lot of outbreaks in my 36 years in health care, and I have never seen such a backwards response in my life. It got bad in my part of the USA in the spring of 2020. Being a nurse got strange, as well. I was being asked to believe absurdities. It was clearly turning into a political football and common knowledge about epidemiology got contradicted or tossed out the window. Absolutely NUTS over an eminently survivable sickness. That it was continued this long for political purposes is the crime of the century.
