He destroyed the former champ Woodley and had beaten guys like Maia and Rda. Also I'm not sure what generation of fighter means. A fighter is either good or not. The main thing separating them is that Usman is UNDEFEATED in the highest levels-ufc gsp IS NOT. Usman also has more finishes in title fights than gsp despite having about half the number of title fights gsp did.

They'll also be coming into those fights on long win streaks and momentum. Usman is incredibly durable. He fought Colby in the second fight with a right hand that was broken leading up to the fight. He's also fought through and had a lot of injuries. I've been watching MMA since about 2003-2004 and Usman is like a mythical fighter like a Fedor was in pride or something. To me the greatest of all time.

Couldn't finish him and got damage to his eye and face as result of the fight. Francis destroyed Stipe in the rematch and took little to no damage and he finished Stipe. Also look at their resume. Stipe beat a bunch of heavyweights on the tail end of their career just like Francis did. They both have wins over rising heavyweight prospect and Francis had win over Stipe while Stipe has win over DC. Their resumes are not much different especially when you consider that Stipe has been finished several times while no man had ever finished Francis. Also Stipe has not faced any of the current top contenders at heavyweight. Blaydes, Derrick Lewis, Volkov. I also think Cain Velasquez would have beaten him. DC finished him in one round and he only best DC after he had back surgery.

I like the guy I just think that him choosing to go through with fighting Usman is the easier choice than NOT fighting him. If Francis shows success with grappling it introduces a new wrinkle to the fight that Gane will have to adjust to on the Fly. Imagine if Francis shows alpha dominance grappling. That would immediately alter Ganes outlook on the fight. He'd have to account for something he didn't think he'd have to before. It's absolutely something Francis should explore. He has grappling ability and there might be situations where he can use it to advantage. Not using /exploring those opportunities limits his arsenal.

  698. It's true. There's a huge amount of racists within the mma community. Think about history of the ufc. The ufc was built on white stars like Chuck Liddel, Randy Couture, Matt Hughes..etc. The average mma fan is a white male 18-34. They latched onto those guys and hate to see a guy like Jon Jones taking over a sport that was called a white man's sport. The level of hate jon jones gets is way overboard and speaks of there being a lot of personal emotions that go into it.

  709. I'd define Jon Jones as a trailblazer. So many people bag on his confident attitude, but I applaud it. I applaud anyone that thinks highly of themselves and pushes the boundaries of what they can accomplish while trying to be a positive role model for kids. What I can't applaud are the "adults" out there that hang on every little word this kid says and try to tear him down.

Usman has way bigger target on him so its way more likely if anyone was getting away with cheating its Colby. He fights less often so he gets tested less often and fights at a way more frenetic pace than usman.

Both Rampage and Machida put in more time, effort and money into their training camps against jones than they did against any other opponent and they still got choked. Shogun said he was in the best shape of his life leading up to his fight with jones, and look what happened to him. It's gotta be really dismaying to jones future opponents to think that guys put in their maximum effort and received nothing but a choke as gratitude. Bones is becoming scary
