Putin says that the reason for the war in Ukraine is the expansion of NATO, which allegedly threatens Russia. They say the Americans and NATO are threatening Russia, and Ukraine wants to join NATO. NATO as a military organization is meaningless, because they have no one to fight with - Russia has nuclear weapons. And NATO rather exists for political ties - states provide each other with secret information within the framework of military cooperation, and thus gain trust. But in fact, Putin is not concerned about the expansion of NATO, but of the European Union. Putin does not want to allow Ukraine, which was in the Russian zone of economic influence from 1991 to 2014, into the Western zone of economic influence. Gas pipelines run through Ukraine, and the Americans, by placing nuclear weapons in Ukraine, will gain leverage on Russia. And Ukraine, being in the European Union, could become a developed and rich country, which is not beneficial to Putin, because then Russians would have questions about the quality of his management as president of the Russian Federation. And so the Kremlin propaganda laughs at the poverty of Ukraine, talking about the "failure of the Western approach to the economy."
Putin also says that we are waging this war to save the Russian people in the Donbas, who have been fighting for their independence from Ukraine for 8 years. I share the unpopular opinion that the LPR and the DPR are NOT puppet states, but I do not believe that this war is being waged for them. Because considering what is happening in Mariupol, the most Russian city in Ukraine, the residents of Donbass will be "grateful" to us to the grave. If Putin's goal was to end the bloodshed in the Donbas, then there would be no war at all - on February 23, Russia recognized the sovereignty of the DPR and LPR, and Russian troops have already officially entered the Donbass. Then it would be possible to hold a referendum and these territories would become part of Russia. I will never believe that Putin was really worried about the fact that there was a war in Donbass for 8 years.
That is, Putin's goal is to prevent the spread of the zone of influence of the West to Russia. Because Russia will lose Ukraine as its economic colony, Russia will become more dependent on the West. And I think there is Putin's mistake here. Putin wants to keep the West away from Russia's borders, i.e. Putin wants to preserve Russia as something independent. However, in fact, this is an unsolvable issue - Russia is very small from an economic and demographic point of view, and after the fall of the USSR, Russia does not have its own civilizational project, and Russia does not represent anything on its own. This "Russian world" is nonsense. And besides, the West, which has blood on its hands after Iraq and Yugoslavia, hypocritically imposes sanctions against Russia, isolates Russia from the World economy, cancels globalization. And Russia is forced to get closer to China in the face of sanctions and isolation. The Chinese are already cutting down Siberia and buying gas from Russia at prices much lower than the global average. That is, if Russia is not part of the Western world, the expansion of which Putin resists, Russia will become part of the Eastern world, Russia will become a resource colony of China. And this is Putin's mistake, which puts an end to the causes of the war.
The crisis of overpopulation of the planet is now escalating all over the world. Back in 1940, the world's population was one and a half billion people. 82 years later, in 2022, the world's population has increased by more than 5 times and is already approaching 8 billion. Many regions of the planet are overpopulated. At the same time, there is a huge and empty Russia, inhabited by 140 million people, which has huge territories and reserves of natural resources, oil, gas, and minerals. Russia is a tasty morsel in the conditions of the modern World, which is overpopulated and depletes natural resources. At the same time, Russia, due to its relatively low population and inefficient economy, cannot protect its borders with so many neighbors, including neighbors that are much stronger than Russia. A long time ago I remember some political scientist saying that Russia will not survive the 21st century. The West will drag Russia into wars with its neighbors, under this pretext, the West will impose sanctions and put pressure on Russia economically, without the economy, Russia will not represent anything in military and political terms. Look what's happening - Russian troops have entered Ukraine. And immediately Japan laid claims to the Kuril Islands. Poland wants Kaliningrad, Biden has arrived in Poland, the Polish and American armies are conducting exercises on the border with Ukraine. Azerbaijan has resumed activity in Karabakh, and they don't care about Russian peacekeepers, the Azerbaijanis are slowly advancing on Karabakh right now. Russia will not survive the 21st century - Russia will be isolated and crushed by sanctions, which will be used by China, which will buy Russian resources for a penny, cut down forests, and also the Chinese will enter Russia for residence in small groups of 10 million people.
It seems to me that this is a kind of global plan - China's economy was built as a labor market for Western companies. The whole economy in China was built by Americans. Cheap Chinese labor. It is foolish to think that there is some kind of confrontation between China and the United States. Every year the Chinese celebrate the arrival of the American president (I don't remember his name) in 1978. It seems to me that the West wants to feed Russia to Chinese partners. To give Chinese partners cheap resources and large territories that Russia has.
I remember in Moscow a year and a half ago, during the pandemic, they started installing military air raid sirens. Now there are such sirens in Moscow every 5 houses. Oligarchs are fleeing Russia, and France, Britain and Germany have expelled Russian diplomats. The expulsion of diplomats is the last step before the war.
