  5.  @wizard-of-other-oz  Ukrainians weren't living better before the invasion. Also, after the revolution in 2014 they didn't overthrow oligarhs and corruption. Ukrainians have built democrasy and political system, but in terms of economy and live standarts Ukraine was even worser, than Russia. Putin invaded because of imperialism - Ukraine in 2014 started the politics with target of developing the economic relations with the West. The Russian oligarhs started the war to recapture Ukraine into the Russian control, as it was in period of 1991-2014. Russians at now would occupie Ukraine and would place pro-Russian, probably puppet government. Or even annex Ukraine, but this is strange to annex Ukraine without Belarus.
