@Crashed131963 Americans also didn't leaved Western Europe. After all casualities, that USSR suffered during WW2, USSR didn't had right to leave Eastern Europe. Soviet control over this territories was absolute justice

@ozehtdz6777 Germans threatened Slavic countries, such as Poland, by complete genocide. Poland lost 20% of population during WW2, 6 million people. Many Soviet soldiers died, fighting against Germans. If there weren't Soviet soldiers, there is no possibility of victory over Germany, bacuse Soviet Union played main role in defeating German land army. So, Soviet soldiers, with high casualities, saved many people in Eastern Europe from German concentration camps and genocide. Soviets played main role in defeating the Germany on land.

@Crashed131963 Russians were uncapable to fight in the start of the WW2. It seems like the Russian strategy of war is to teach your untrained soldiers by real combat. Russians are throwing untrained troops to battle to gain some combat experience and teach their army. Soviets were badly losing to Germans in the start of Soviet-German war. But war was going for a long time, and the fighting capabilitiy of Soviet army was becoming better and better. And if in 1941 casuality ratio between Germany and USSR was 5:1 , in 1944 Soviets were fighting against Germans with equal casualities. And in 1945 Soviets defeated the Germans with equal to German casualities. I think that Russian command sent its troops to Ukraine to teach them. Probably Russian command want to see how modern war would look like.

@Crashed131963 Russian / Soviet command always had unrealistic military plans. Many Russian dissident historians, such as Mark Solonin, who lives in Kiyv since 2017, made the conclusion, that Soviet Union wanted to invade Germany in 1941. Soviets wanted to reach Berlin after 1.5 months of fighting. Also, Soviet command planned to conquer all Finland in 2 weeks.
