Since then, Cuba has been under absolutely unjustified sanctions. If the American leadership considered Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba a threat and was ready to respond militarily, then why is Russia also not entitled to respond militarily when 18 years of negotiations with NATO ended in failure?

The communist views of citizens only affect the results of elections. What about the USSR and Stalin? @3nutria I agree with that they have right to self-defense. Also, the Baltics in the NATO aren't causing a threat to Russian security. About the USSR : the communist ideology isn't the governmental and isn't main in Russia. Putin and his party have no ideology. Putin was talking many things about USSR, some of them bad, and some good. For example Putin once said, that Soviet economy was trash. Putin said that the collapse of USSR is a tradegy because at now we have war and crisis in post-Soviet space. Armenia and Azerbaidjan, Georgia had the bloody military conflict with ethnic minorities, Russia and Ukraine, NATO expansion. Many countries of post-Soviet Asia are living worser than in Soviet times.
