@HarryHoppins you know nothing about how economy works. "Left of the Soviet era" - really? Soviet Union collapsed 33 years ago, and Soviet economy was a governmental monopoly isolated from the World with ban of foreign goods in the market. Soviet economy produced everything from food to TVs and cars, but because of isolation and ban of foreign goods there was NO COMPETITION, and the quality of most of Soviet goods was worser compared to the market economy. Isolated and monopolized Soviet economy also was irrentable, money spending on production was higher than income, while Soviet government was artificially holding the prices on goods low. When prices on oil dropped during the arms race, Soviet economy collapsed. Modern Russian economy is much whealthier and better than Soviet economy. Modern Russian economy is a market economy with globalized free trade, if production exists, it is rentable and this production achieved its existance as a result of competition. Even at now, during a war, whealth and life standarts in Russia are higher than in Soviet Union. In modern Russia we have 300 cars for every 1000 people, while in USSR in 1989 there was just 80 cars for every 1000 people, in USSR car was an expensive rarity for people, at now every Russian familiy have a car, and 90% of Russian cars are good Japanese, German cars, ect.. Modern Russia despite the war and sanctions is a country with global average life standarts, wages and whealth. And what is important, Russian economy is a market economy and it would not collapse like socialist economy did. Russia already hadled challenges that destroyed Soviet Union.
