@hikey7955 economic elites in the West are lobbing politicians, the result of vote is determined by money spending on marketing. In Russia president have ultimate power in state, so this is silly to allow population, majority of which don't understand how politics work, to determine the strategic course of the state. In reality, the same thing in the West - in the West presidents have very small power. So, in fact, presidential elections in the West don't differ so much from Russian presidential elections, because in Russia president is leading the country and people in fact couldn't change him, while in the West presidents have little power - American presidents are changing each other, while US policy doesn't change, this is a choise without a choise, immitation of choise. USA had few presidents in last 24 years, and all these few presidents were doing just the same thing, just the same policy, because policy is determined by economic elites, lobbing in parliament. In Russia for 24 years there are one president who determines policy, economic elites are under control of state and parliament is puppet of Russian president
