You don't actually own the vehicle you own the title which is a piece of paper. That is why the police can take your vehicle from you without it being regarded as theft. If you truly owned the vehicle it would be illegal theft for the police to take your vehicle without your permission. My understanding is you merely have the right to use of the vehicle which is actually owned by the gov not you. You are merely a beneficiary of an estate which is controlled by the gov perhaps even owned by the gov. The same is true for real estate and all securities which are actually owned by cede and co with you listed as mere tenant or beneficiary. This is part of the reason klaus schulze of the WEF has been quoted as saying you will own nothing and you will love it. That is already true to a large extent. But he claims it will get to the point you will not even own your clothes by 2030! Imagine that!

Most homeowners are actually listed as a tenant on the deed. I hear cede and co is the actual owner.

@josephfields42 Oh really? Before they have proven a crime has been commited? What happened to innocent until proven guilty? You must also believe it's permissible for the government to kidnap (arrest) you and hold you for ransom money (bail) for a SUSPECTED crime, despite the fact that we are supposed to have an unalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness (which can be summarized as a right to freedom of movement). Do you know what "unalienable" means? It means irrevocable. It also means no distinction can be made between the rights possessed by one person such as a foreigner/alien vs another such as a citizen. It means a basic right possessed by all people. So tell me, how can the gov rightly apprehend and hold anybody against their will?

@josephfields42 I have no problem with reading. I'm not sure what you are squabbling about because nothing you said invalidates what I said. You merely reiterated the police can take your property if you've commited a crime. Tell me, how is it not theft for police to take your rightfully acquired property or assets simply because you've commited some crime? Let's say they take your vehicle simply because you were not found to have a drivers license at some (illegal) checkpoint they set up on some road (despite the fact courts have affirmed it is a basic right to use the roads for conveyance without a license; drivers licenses are for commercial drivers not personal use). Or lets say it is because they claimed you were driving while intoxicated. Or lets say they seize the vehicle because you haven't paid your taxes. They can also seize assets including vehicles and bank accounts even when there is no evidence of a crime related to the vehicle or money in the account. That is called civil asset forfeiture. Perhaps that is what you are talking about when you say they can take it if you commit a crime? But the fact is they can and will take your vehicle (and anything of value in it) if you are found by them to merely be driving without a license (even uf you weren't driving recklessly). They can even take it if they merely suspect you bought the vehicle with money obtained through illegal activities. Granted, in some jurisductions, successful efforts are being made to limit the ability of law enforcement to seize your property in such cases. But in most jurisdictions that sort of progress hasn't yet been made.

@josephfields42 The police can even take the vehicle if the tags merely become expired. Tell me, is it a crime to drive a vehicle with expired tags? Who is the victim? You can't have a crime without a victim. The only victim I see in such a case is the vehicle owner who gets their property stolen from them by the police for no legitimate reason.

@josephfields42 BTW the reason the gov can take your money before proving you are guilty of illegally acquiring the money is because the money is actually gov property. Destruction of federal reserve notes or US coins is destruction of federal property which means you don't own it. It is owned by the federal gov. You merely have a right to use it but don't actually own it.

@josephfields42 I'll concede I was mistaken insofar as I thought you meant an RV when you said mobile home. After all, the term mobile in mobile home makes it sound as though it were on the go. But it makes no difference. As I said, homes, vehicles, cash, all of it is owned by others. Try not paying the property taxes and see what happens. Unless you are elderly or disabled the gov will seize the property and sell it as if they own it.

@josephfields42 And no I don't sit in front of mirrors arguing with myself. You talk as though I were talking to myself here when I'm not. I'm talking to you. Seriously, there is no reason to be getting so irate as you are simply because I chimed in to point out you may not own your home but instead are probably listed only as a tenant on the deed. You should be thanking me for pointing that out to you not trying to tear my head off like you are.
