I am a bit of a pessimist: I predict that in the not to distant future, some entity, be it a nation or a corporate/private entity, will do something incredibly stupid that will initiate a cascading Kessler syndrome catastrophe that will effectively end our space activities for decades, even centuries to come. Goodbye to GPS, communications and weather satellites in our lifetime.
