  1. Thirty seconds in I just HAVE to comment: Cuba is NOT punching in above it's weight, it is the US that is punching in WAY BELOW it's weight. Actually, the US is failing miserably at anything that resembles being a society mindful of the welfare of their citizens. They have been doing that for at least 40 years while Cuba, hampered by the ire of their large and oppressive neighbor, have be doing far, FAR better! Just think about it: One saving grace for Cuba has been the fact that the US conservatives HATE them, Cuba is absolutely free from tourists traveling from the infection pit (the US). In fact, the embargo imposed on them by the US is actually making the job of controlling the infection a LOT easier for Cuba. In fact, Cuba is doing far better than e.g. Sweden, a population-wise very similar country. Sweden (pop.10M) currently has (Apr.24, 2020 00:30 UTC) 16K confirmed cases and almost 2K dead, while Cuba (pop 11.3M) has less than 1200 cases and 40 dead - and that is NOT because Cuba is neglecting their testing! When all is said and done, when the accounting of the Coronavirus debacle is over and done with, one thing is certain: The US will be deemed one of the worst prepared, the worst losers, "socialist hellhole" Cuba will be deemed one of the best prepared, the best winners.

  2. What Can the US Learn From Europe About Policing? On the face of it, EVERYTHING! There are only 2 major stumbling blocks: The US is completely unwilling to learn anything from anyone, ever! Even worse, the US is simply to incompetent to be able implement ANYTHING they could learn from other nations! So, the US seems to be happily stuck in a destructive spiral of ignoring it's racist, genocidal past, and bent on doing what they do best: Escalating things to the point of self-destruction! They took an important step towards that dismal fate by we-electing a rapist and convicted felon to be their leader for the upcoming 4 years. They will NOT survive that as a democracy.

  3. What is the point of advising the US to do something that really works in Germany - or another thing working like a charm in, say Taiwan or South Korea. You see, the US is TOO BIG for any of those ideas to work. Another way of stating the same doomsday end result: The US is simply too big to succeed at anything these days. There are plenty of US Americans capable and willing to solve just about any problem - if only they were allowed the freedom to get on with the job. The corporate Repugnicans and corporate Democrazies will not allow any undue successes that might benefit the general public, their billionaire owners/puppet-masters will not stand for anything like THAT.
