As I understand this, there are two main goals: 1) map the actual spread of the virus in the entire population, and 2) map the mutation history of the virus. deCode is not testing everyone, just a "random" part of the population. The problem: The testing is only on offer to anyone interested is the South-West part of Iceland. True, more than half the population is able to take part, but as the vast majority of COVID-19 cases are found in just that area, the results will inevitably be biased accordingly. The good news is the simple fact that whatever the result is, we KNOW that the final infection rate results will be the worst-imaginable-case scenario, the actual country-wise numbers are actually better. Pleas note the Iceland had an active epidemic response team (not disbanded as in the US) that was aware of the impending problem, started testing, quarantining, isolating and TRACKING the infection source of every case, leading to further quarantining and isolations. Our very high per capita infection rate is simply because we, like South Korea and Taiwan, started very early and were able to catch and isolate most of the cases. The virus was NOT allowed to spread unnoticed.

  4. I really feel sorry for ordinary Americans - and things like this are one of many reasons few people from e.g. Norway have absolutely no interest in emigrating to the US. The only people willing to risk this are desperate people from "shithole" countries, many of which are in that state due to direct US meddling, especially in South America.

There IS an example 'Murica could have learned from: The former Soviet "republics" Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan had a water body named the Aral Sea that is fast disappearing due to vast resource mismanagement. If you 'Muricans think you are above such mismanagement, just face this irrefutable proof of an 'Murican resource mismanagement that is just as bad - and even worse, because YOU KNEW BETTER, you effing idiots!

  7. Why does no one EXPLAIN to the MAGA idiots what the accepted definition of "woke" actually is? What this "interviewer" should also have done was to carry a printout of the definition of "woke" from all the most distinguished English dictionaries and show it to the ignorant idiots, with the words "look it up yourselves if you don't believe me". That would have been hilarious. Republicans seem to be so stupid that their leaders can apparently pick any word or mnemonic (like woke and CRT) and demonize it, without ever having to explain (or know themselves) what those terms actually mean!
