My impression is that Russian citizens are simply afraid of having political opinions at all, it can so easily turn out to be "illegal" and earn them 15 years in prison. What they do not realize is that his enforced political apathy is about to land their entire country into a generations-long isolation and global disdain, NOT TO MENTION the embarrassing future moments when their grandchildren eventually ask them why they did not do anything while Putin did what he did.

It struck me how many of the interviewed had shifty eyes - like they were afraid of saying something wrong and maybe spending 15 years in prison. Yet, almost everyone denounced the idea of changing the rest of the world into Putin's Russia. My guess: They've been there, the ARE doing that and they just want it to end.

It is a depressing fact that all the "good" Russians will also suffer the consequences of this war for decades to come. The young, the educated, the peaceful, everyone is the same leaking boat now, and it will take a long time for the western nations to accept Russians in general.

Hatred is a too strong expression for what people in many countries feel towards either ignorant or misinformed Russians OR ignorant and misinformed right-wing 'Muricans. Increasing disdain is probably more appropriate - as well a pity.

The Russian population are between a rock and a hard place, so many have no choice but to stick their head in the sand and try to ignore it. Eventually, Putin's regime will be gone, the truth becomes known to everyone and then there will be hell to pay. Until then, misinformation rules...

Sadly, people seem to be "apolitical" because politics in Russia are terrifying! Having a political opinion in Russia appears to be outright dangerous.

The young Russians that have not already fled Russia are either too brainwashed or too terrified to dare have an opinion. I predict that the Russian "sheep" will be in for a rude awakening in 2023 - Russia will be considered a terrorist state and ordinary Russians will be considered to spineless to be fit as members of the civilized world. Soon the Russian nation (the sheep) will have to face the facts of Putin's cruelty in wiping out Ukrainian civilians and their homes, and will have to face the same relentless shame the Germans had to face when the true atrocities of the Nazi regime following WW2. The difference? The Germans faced this head-on and have made amends to an extent that Russia and Russians are not capable of. What is the difference between a killing-crazed mink and a Russian soldier? Answer: The Russian soldier will rob you blind AFTER raping and killing you, the mink will simply kill you outright and be done with it.

One can only feel sorry for the Russian public. Some of them (understandably) became shifty-eyed before denying any interest in politics while others stated outright that NATO was not an aggressive alliance, rather a defensive one, and if NATO wanted to be aggressive, they would have attacked Russia years ago. Obviously, many of them are well-informed of the real situation and know that the Western nations are interested in trade and prosperity, not costly and irrational wars.

According to this, young people in Russia are either in denial or do not care about what is happening in Ukraine. Their best excuses will be: 1) They are being misled and 2) They are being suppressed. Sadly that is probably exactly what has been going on and, even more sadly, it will be a cold comfort for young Russians that will be ostracized by other nationalities for decades to come.

These questions are rather pointless. Given recent events, Russians will be vilified and unwelcome wherever they go, for at least one or two generations. Besides, neighboring countries have found out - the hard way - that having Russians living there is very dangerous! The next Russian dictator is bound to use Russians living in other countries as an excuse to "liberate" those countries, much like Putin has been doing with countries south of Russia, is currently doing in Ukraine and will be doing next in Moldova etc. Putin's Russia must be stopped decisively NOW to prevent WW3. Russians do not have to worry about being invaded - nobody wants to have anything to do with this horrible nation.

That young person was impressive in spite of the fact that the Russian population has been treated like mushrooms for 2 decades; kept in the dark and fed on bullshite. A promising individual that is unfortunately likely to end up in prison if Putin prevails. For most of the other Russians that appeared in this clip: It seems their wish is likely to be fulfilled - Russia is becoming truly independent, most nations refuse to buy resources from Russia and refuse to sell e.g high-tech resources to Russia. Closed borders are the epitome of a truly independent country. What will the Oligarchs have to say about that?
1
So - the Russian public is just as ignorant about what is going on in the world as 'Muricans are. The difference: Russian ignorance is by Putin's design, 'Murican ignorance is by their own choice. Which kind of ignorance is worse? It's a toss-up, but ignorance of any kind is bad, even fatal.

If only the Russian population could see the devastation the Russian "liberating" forces visited upon large areas of eastern Ukraine! I am absolutely sure that when the Russian population REALLY gets to learn about and see what their fellow countrymen did to their suppose Ukrainian "brothers", they will get a shock even worse than the one many Germans had once they learned about the concentration camps and the behavior of the German Gestapo in many of the countries they occupied. It cannot be forgotten while people that survived it are still alive (very few by now, it's been almost 80 years). The same will certainly apply to the current Russian atrocities in Ukraine: Russia and everything Russian will be hated and despised until at least year 2100!

It is sad to see how subdued and helpless almost every citizen interviewed seems to be - and they are all young people, the generation that will have to suffer the ostracization and isolation awaiting Russians for a long time to come.

There seem to be 2 types of Russians: Those that simply believe that Russia has already won and those that know that Russia has NOT already won and are wondering why. Frankly, stupidity and ignorance is NOT limited to ignorant and stupid 'Muricans, it also applies to misled and stupid Russians. Those Putin-believing Russians are eerily similar to every Trump-believing 'Muricans these days: It is a race to see which is more stupid! Personally, I believe both are beyond idiocy.
