Typical Finn! If a Finn has nothing significant to contribute to a conversation, he/she simply remains quiet. When a Finn has something to contribute, he/she will speak up, clearly and concisely - no subterfuge or circumvention, just straight to the point. I am only Icelandic, but I have worked with a number of Finnish aviation professionals over the years and I learned early on that when the quiet Finn finally says something, it is ALWAYS worth listening to.

@user-pv7vc9kp9k , Iceland is the most 'Muricanized and least "uncorrupt" of the Nordic countries (sorry if that offends anyone), we are a tiny nation (only 360K), we have no military and are the most lightweight of the Nordics. Make no mistake, we have our share of pride for all that - but we still are the diaper-wearing infant in the Nordic family, in my opinion.

I have always wondered: If the Russians actually enter controlled airspace with no transponder on, why are they not simply forced to land and take into custody for severely endangering civilian air traffic?

@TalesOfWar , ah - this is apparent among all the Nordics, but the Finns are at another level in this regard. They tend to think of the rest of us as chatterboxes.

As a popular Top Gear commentator put it: "SOME SAY - it is a pity that Boris did not emerge from the ICU in a shroud". Boris, your "success" is second only to Trump's, and that is a low bar, indeed!

I suspect the Ukrainians will surprise all the naysayers. By now they have a vast experience in warfare, and their tank crews are NOT raw recruits just plucked from the streets of Liverpool or Dresden that will first have to learn the alphabet before they learn about tank warfare. The Ukrainians will be seasoned soldiers that will take to superior equipment like fish to water. Make no mistake, new and complex systems need to be mastered, both regarding operation and maintenance, but we're talking seasoned veterans that already have most of the knowledge and, more important, actual EXPERIENCE! Add to that the fierce motivation of the Ukrainians! Learning to efficiently use a new tool will NOT take them 20 weeks, more like 2 or 4! Again, I am certain that the naysayers will be the ones that have to slink away in shame when all is said an done.

Irritating interview trend apparent in almost every TV interview: The interviewer comes in with a set of questions AND the answers they expect (or want). The moment he realizes that the answer is NOT what he expected (or wanted), he jumps in and supplies his own answer! True, many politicians tend to avoid questions by droning on about issues unrelated to the question at hand, and need to be reined in, but frequently that is NOT the case and the interviewer should simply shut up and listen to the full answer.

@adriangoodrich4306 , thanks - that explains it.

As a national of one of the founding members of NAT,O I feel that I have to duck my head in shame over the fact that we have so far failed to intervene in the most meaningful way - by direct military intervention like helping a sovereign nation under attack to close the Ukrainian to Russian air attacks. NATO would only be operating in Ukrainian territory at the fervent request of Ukraine. At the moment, NATO is in the role of cowards that are afraid of the bluster of master bluffer Putin. This just the way I feel, not that I am competent to predict what the consequences might be. Just remember: Putin is a pathological liar! His threats are almost certainly a bubble. Whichever way the invasion in Ukraine goes (I am betting rooting for the Ukrainians), Putin's Russia will stay under sanctions, isolated from the rest of the developed world, until Putin is broken, done, finished, kaput. The world does NOT need another Hitler!
