This mom had a brilliant response: OK, if you don't want me as your mommy anymore, you can't call me mommy, my name is [insert name]. What the kid really wanted was an indulgent mom that would spoil her rotten, but faced with the 'reality' of 'losing' her mommy she instantly pivots! 'Yeah mommy' indicates that a line has been drawn in the sand, a limit set and recognized. I admire how this mother handled what could have escalated into a temper tantrum.

She might be upset in a decade or so when she old enough to mind, but I suspect the opposite will happen: In a decade and half and later in life, she will cherish the fact that this view into her precocious childhood exists at all!
