  1. Mao revolution and similarly red terror in russia were based on ideology and religion(if u count communism a religion). They killed non-commies(orthodox in russia, Buddhists in china) , broke down their temples and churches. Punished anyone following those religions, changed names from native Russians and Chinese to communist names. Killed rich people in the name of wealth distribution, punished anyone who supported native russian and Chinese heritage. Well but today, china is much conservative than US, they don't support LGBQT, BLM, metoo, veganism. While comparatively , the part of China that remained out of communist reach, does have some of the heritages preserved, but they r like western countries , they follow these ideologies, maybe not as violently as Americans. So, we would see that west goes same way or not, i hope they also get a good leader like zeng to stop these .
