@samfetter2968 Well, let's see. It doesn't matter what you think a threat is, it only matters what Russia thinks is a threat.
On that topic, you can't stage enough men in the Baltic states to meaningfully threaten Russia, but you have apparently not heard about the new military district that has been established now that Finland joint NATO.
Next up, Yanukovich didn't try to join Russia, he backed out of a proposed EU trade agreement that conflicted with an established agreement with Russia and then tried to sign another one.
And yes, the weapons shipments began after the civil war errupted and Russia intervened, as Burns' memo said would happen.
Lastly, you are wrong about what Zelensky said. On the 21st of February he was defiant and said that "we would not give anything to anyone".
He did talk about neutrality a month later, though, but those ceasefire talks got torpedoed by Boris Johnson.

@samfetter2968 Jesus Christ, where to begin? First off, it doesn't matter if you think NATO expansion wasn't a threat, it only matters what the Russian government believes. Especially after America walked all over Ukrainian sovereignty when they couped the government (which was also against the Budapest Memorandum).
Secondly, you can't stage enough men in the Baltic states to meaningfully threaten Russia, unlike in Ukraine. Now with Finland in the situation has changed and Russia is creating a new military district on the border.
Thirdly, Yanukovich didn't try to join Russia, the proposed EU trade agreement conflicted with the one Ukraine had with Russia, and after the EU refused to budge on the terms he decided to leave it be and come to another agreement with Russia which is when the coup began.
And yes, the weapons shipments began after the civil war errupted and Russia intervened, as Burns' memo said would happen.
Lastly, you are wrong about what Zelensky said. On the 21st of February he was defiant and said that "we would not give anything to anyone".
