Still downplaying the importance of Bakhmut, I see.

@oleg.lyamin No, it means that the Siversk-Soledar-Bakhmut line will soon collapse and Ukraine is forced to fall back to her last line of feasible defence before the Dnieper. It means the Ukraine headquarter in Kramatorsk becomes a frontline city.

@oleg.lyamin Russia is one step closer to fully occupying Donbass for one, which is a big political victory as this is what the Russian army (allegedly) set out to accomplish in February. As I mentioned, the headquarters of the Donbass grouping is in Kramatorsk. If the city becomes a frontline city, the people there, those with the big strategic overview, will either have to face constant shelling or need to evacuate, likely behind the Dnieper. And what do you think is going to happen once Russia reaches the Dnieper? That Ukraine will somehow reclaim the lands, in what, a massive river crossing in a year? Certainly not with the horrifying losses the country has already so far suffered, just watch von der Leyen's unedited admission. That area will be permanently lost.

@UCqDnU7_SJj6Fl5CWuONw2wg Reading comprehension failed you, didn't it?

@nvelsen1975 This isn't about the surrender of Ukraine, by that logic you can argue that nothing in this war matters until Russia reaches Lviv (though Ukraine would have already surrendered long before that). This is about an important defensive line being breached at a time when Ukraine is running out of men and material.

@DabDabGoose Taken later by what army? The Ukrainians are currently feeding their men into what even DW News admits is a meatgrinder for them. What, you think Ukraine is just going to keep doing mobilisations forever?
