  3.  @kolle128  They don't want to move away from their maximalist demands because they know that what Stoltenberg is saying is true. When Russia wins in Ukraine she will have defeated NATO and humiliated the West. This coming a year and a half after the humiliation in Afghanistan (where we proved that Russia is better at nation-building than we are) is something they don't want to stomach.
