Would be nice to have a German chancellor just half as respected as Putin...

It must be great having an effective and competent government. The dream of most Germans.

1941 is 1944?

If America gets Greenland, can Germany get Jutland? At least North-Schleswig?đ

When western politicians talk about a West German solution they should keep in mind that the West German governments of that time didn't just view themselves as representatives of the area that makes up Germany today, but also the former eastern territories that Germany didn't give up definitively until 1990. Or in short, they don't know what they are talking about (shocker oh shocker) and even in the event of such an implementation there is no guarantee of Ukraine becoming "whole" ever again.

Oh, don't worry. It'll be Germany that will play the role of the scapegoat. It'll be a new "DolchstoĂlegende".

The continued use of the spectre of World War 2 exasperates me more and more. It very clearly shows a lack of historical perspective where everything and everyone is World War 2 and Hitler, regardless of whether or not the comparison fits. I'm going to offer a different comparison, flawed as it is, because no two points in time are ever the same. It's the end of 1916 and the world is embroiled in World War 1. A peace proposal is being floated, but instead of seizing on it the Wilson administration doesn't do anything with the proposal. The forces in Germany that where trying to prevent unrestricted submarine warfare lost the internal struggle due to this inactivity and the USA (which was already bankrolling the Entente) entered the war in 1917. Ostensibly (after the Russians exited) to "make the world safe for democracy", just like we seemingly intend to do it again today. History taught us that the world was not made safe, as the resentment and the violence of the interwar period would give birth to the second World War. Instead of seeking peace total victory was sought and it just led to even more war. Even if we were to be victorious in Ukraine (or possibly because of that), we'd just head straight for a confrontation with China. Just like I'm sure that failure in Ukraine will make the US even more determined to "protect" Taiwan.

@elcrypto3623 As far as I'm concerned he can become chancellor as long as he makes the trains come on time.

Seems pretty obvious where Trump got the 60 million from. That roughly the number of total casualties of WW2 and he probably mixed it up with Soviet losses. After all, he's hardly a well read man.

The Fins donât owe Russia anything, considering it was the USSR that attacked them for a land grab which started it all.

Probably because of the installation of vassal states.

At this stage I consider the original stab-in-the-back myth to be more believable than the new one.
