When western politicians talk about a West German solution they should keep in mind that the West German governments of that time didn't just view themselves as representatives of the area that makes up Germany today, but also the former eastern territories that Germany didn't give up definitively until 1990. Or in short, they don't know what they are talking about (shocker oh shocker) and even in the event of such an implementation there is no guarantee of Ukraine becoming "whole" ever again.
