  1. The declared cease fire is a tool the russians will use in the next few days to promote their new mobilization. I expect this to to be announced by the middle of this month. They may have rioting in the streets unless putin paints this picture of peaceful orcs sitting in their trenches & being attacked by the blood thirsty, evil, Ukrainians over Christmas. I'm sure you can imagine the rest. It is actually pretty smart. Chuckles the Tsar knows how to manipulate his people.

  2. I would argue it depends what matrix you use to define 'winning'. If territory, russia did grab a large chunk it a surprise attack against a much weaker, unprepared country. Which isn't surprising. But considering their loses of much of that area, Ukraine is winning. It is a endless game of 'Yeah but'. The one thing I hear & worries me about supporting Ukraine is some units are becoming less confident. The numbers of Blyatistan troll/bots seem to indicate how desperate russia is. Partly confirmed by the tone of russian state media.

  3. The bad look for the US is many fold. Not just releasing intel but in foot-dragging on many weapon systems. I have read a few reports to know it is probably true that the US is having significant 'back channel' talks with russia about nuclear arms reductions. I think letting these talks influence what they do for Ukraine is a mistake. But these aren't piddly little reductions so it is important. A claim that a Ukrainian sympathizers attacked Nord Stream shows how little they understand about what that would take. LOL!!
