  1. About the most cumbersome form of payment out there. Trading with barter credits would be far more efficient. Save the gold as international trade. Or the few that will trade with that in russia.

  2. Oh, I wouldn't say the ruble is worthless. But keep in mind the russian citizenry are more adept at barter than any country in the world. They dealt with barter even in times when the ruble was worth something. It will kill foreign trade of course. I'm sure the economic genius of putin will show through. He will make the ruble great again. LOL!!
