  1. Similar comparisons were made after WW2. I think a British writer went through a thought experiment about how the UK could have been NAZI under the same conditions. The situation with the Orcs is different. They have been conditioned for 300 years & all their independent thinkers done away with or sent to gulags. But evil can happen anywhere if the citizenry lets their guard down. You could consider the 'bloodline' of independent thinkers was exterminated there long ago. So a russification of a Western country isn't likely. But in an emergency situation where people are starving & most have no home, they will grab for anyone that will lift them out of the situation.

  2.  @Musicienne-DAB1995  At the time of the first group fleeing it was due to moral outrage. In the first month & a half of the war, there was no thought of conscription. I will give you the fact many desperately poor in the provinces had no way to leave. But I think it is obvious what the main motivator was after September. Many of those would be quite happy to stay & cheer on the mighty russian army, except for the pesky problem they may have to go.

  4. What type of dissenters is even more important. Do they dissent because they don't want to be conscripted? Do they dissent because they see their economy going to hell? Or do the dissent because of moral outrage about what their country is doing (and has done many times in the past) to another country? I have been to russia a few times & there is a HUGE difference in the first two & the latter.

  5.  @Musicienne-DAB1995  And the opposition to this war was . . . Where in 1994 in the first Chechnyan war? 1996 Dagistan? 1999 Chechnya again? 2008 S. Ossetia? Hell they don't even speak out when they were fully free to do so in the July 2020 when putin crowned himself president for life. They have had plenty of opportunities to prove they aren't a wishy-washy 'maybe I'm not happy' bunch of do nothings.

  6. So . . . The tyrant putin has almost gotten his ideal 'россия мир' completed. Of course, he won't be around much longer to enjoy it. But it would have been such a wonderous place where he & his elite could have enjoyed so many things. I wonder if the next 'monster-to-be' Orc will carry on his traditions. I would imagine they will be just as weak as putin is.
