@acewhisper38272 The US were amateurs in understanding what dealing with the soviets was like. I'm from the US so I don't like admitting we were naive but we were. The British security services & diplomatic corps were instrumental in teaching us. The US had just come out of a period of isolationism where we had only a slight idea of what it was like.
