I can only remember a timid ex KGB agent rising through the rank. Bombing plot in Moscow here & humiliation in Chechnya or S Osetia there. I don't really recall the world class leader part. He just seemed cozy enough for some in the West to want to get into bed with him. Chuckles the Tsar is an ineffectual leader that does know how to shut up the opposition. Known for attacking much weaker neighbors so Ukraine should surprise no one.

Mmmmm . . . I don't know about that. I think Blyatistan is under great threat domestically. Until putin is out of office that isn't likely to change. The russian people will just start grooming the next monster-to-be so I'm not sure it will make much difference. They are being eyed by the Chinese too. Remember Chinese territorial claim against russia in the summer of 2021? Those didn't go away just because they became 'friends with no limits' a few months later.
