  1. A widening war would mean some capability to do so. Whether you mobilize 1.5 million or 15 million, will simply mean a larger pile of corpses. The weight of numbers will get them some gains that are just overrun. But without the right equipped army, you won't gain much with Banzai charges with fixed bayonets. They could start pulling T-55s out of storage. The few that can be recovered. I think most will be shocked how fast this ends when Chuckles the Tsar is replaced.
