  1. I think you will find it doesn't take a million strong armed forces. In the future, the right weapons with half that number (quarter?) that are well trained, can be a huge deterrent. For right now of course, as many as possible.

  2.  @kentonian  Agreed. They will need to build a strong defense industry also. They already had strong aerospace.
