I would have much more respect for those that surrender as soon as they get to Ukraine or refuse to go in at all. Retreat is a function of war. A great equalizer. Colonels to privates or heroes to cowards. This includes war criminals too. Those commonly attacking civilians retreat. Those that torture, rape, loot, all retreat. Retreat isn't something to be ashamed of & can be very smart. But it isn't something to proud of either.
