The reason you can't rent under 24 (some 25) is not some legalistic determination. You have that all wrong. It is an arbitrary corporate policy by the rental car companies. And not all of them have it either. It is actually well based that males & to some extent females are more risky to rent too. I think the military is supposed to mature you to a great degree. That $10 bil aircraft carrier your tax dollars paid for may have a 19yo at the helm only a little higher rank than Jack.

You go back hundreds of years with repressions so that any blood line of free thinkers or (God forbid) usurpers ended a long time ago. But you still have those pesky radicals still popping up from time to time. So it is time for another purge. It is called eugenics. Which is a racially charged term but it does still work. The population becomes very pliable for the next Tsar. The citizens make social contracts with the government & ~POOF~ you have Blyatistan!!

The colloquial meaning has changed. I agree with you btw. I see no need to change from the literal meaning. But so many now mean totally destroyed or almost destroyed. And so many use it the wrong way, we won't change minds. (shrugs)

@mxcollin95 Ahhh . . . Gotcha. I think young people are fine. Being very old myself. The military gives a battery of aptitude & psychological testing. Maybe improve that process & the frequency.

With the hopelessness of the Orc soldier, I don't know how the military leaders expect them to do anything but die. Who knows what the bunker rat it the Kremlin is thinking? Being on the first line, the best hope if you are attacked, is to turn your weapons rearward on the 2nd line (there to shoot you if you try to surrender). They will ostensibly have more training so it isn't likely to work. But your only other option is to crouch down & let the AFU over run you. And you have been told you will be tortured by them. I would hate to make that choice. It probably would have been much better to choose carefully who you leave in charge of your country. It shows the importance of being deeply invested in the politics of your country.
