@free4photo You remember that, do you? LOL!! I remember how the falling debris of a destroyed drone damaged a Ukrainian jet. Maybe Mad Dog putin will soon have you telling how SU-57 will soon be converted into Death Stars also?

The helicopter likely didn't even know they were there. Many of these drones aren't much bigger than a pizza. The sky is a big place. But with the kamikaze drones now exploding shrapnel downward onto parked bombers, it wouldn't take too much to imagine one in this case. Wouldn't be seen. Would have to hit it. Just get in the way above it not too far. Limiting factor would be frequency separation so you probably couldn't saturate an area (assuming you could find that many operators). But it is an interesting concept.

@thany3 Many of the ones I have seen were quite small carrying just a couple of grenades. Racing drone can be much larger & are more likely to maneuver with a helicopter. But even they aren't as fast & cover a footprint of about a square meter. I'm not drone expert but even the largest drone I know of would be hard to spot in the air.

All can be resolved with a drone above spraying shrapnel from above like they did with the parked bombers. The real problem is getting enough drones. A 20 knot drone isn't likely to track down a 120 knot helicopter from above or otherwise. Shrapnel is effective only at short distance so you can't be too high above a helicopter either. Maybe not a quad at all but like an RC aircraft? That should do it. And not effected by rotor wash so much either.

@OctopusNews LOL!! The Orc army will fight until the next mutiny. Then they will take an 'operational pause' to see who wins. When the weak loser putin is replaced, the next monster-to-be will want out of putin's folly as soon as possible. The mighty orc army will gloriously regroup all the way back home. The next mutiny could be . . . Tomorrow.
