  1. The commissariat blocking squads of WW2 were largely a myth. The soviets did use them to stop retreating soldiers from time to time. But for putin's russia this seems like the perfect compliment. He knows he won't last much longer anyway. So why not use any terror to force your troops to fight for your demented dream? It will probably get much worse to stop the wholesale retreats.

It is important to keep the fringe from both sides out of office. The reason people say he would be friendly to putin is because he says such things. Getting into office & facing reality may change his mind. But why risk it? Keep 'em both out of office.

A little like Peskov in this war. BTW Baghdad Bob was never prosecuted being his master's information officer. So it isn't likely Peskov or RT news will be either. Unless the new russian enacts laws (likely I would say) against the regime & it's propagandists. They would be screwed in that case.
