Well, to be fair to poor little misunderstood putin, same thing happened to Yeltsin in Chechnya in '94-'96. Even worse in fact. It was a smaller country in every way. But a military is a bit of a stretch. More of an apparatus to steal public funds in peacetime. In war, it is a bit like a bunch of drunken footballers overturning cars & burning shops after their team loses fueled by the knowledge they are superior in every way.
