@lars7747 We did know. In '94 Chechnyan war russia got spanked badly. By a country with 1/10 th the population of Ukraine and surrounded on 3 sides by russia. OH!! . . . And no help from the outside like Ukraine is getting. They would have spanked them again in '99 if they hadn't been betrayed.

@lars7747 LOL!! That was a free country that broke away from russia a few years earlier. One that would tell you vehemently they are NOT russian. You should probably go over some documentaries again. Primarily Muslim they did all they could to distance themselves from russia. Even more than Georgia or Ukraine.

I think their idea wasn't to lose. Seriously, we see the terrible condition they are now. But putin was being drip-fed intelligence that UA would 'cave' in a few days. Intelligence that wasn't being done btw. And they had seen this in 2014. If they had expected a long, hard, war they would have never attempted it.

Possibly they had seen so many examples of how their buddies died. I don't think threats or lies would do it. I saw one guy injured with a bad abdomen wound that held a grenade to his head to end the suffering. BTW I don't recommend anyone watch the war porn. It isn't healthy. It is what they have seen not heard.
