I have stayed some nights in Khrushchevka. The first one was tiny. With carpets on the walls so your neighbors couldn't hear everything you say. What to do with yours? Save them when you get an influx of worker to help rebuild. Then demolish them. The part of the pavement or border is called a curb. I was always amazed in rural russia at the wonderful brick work on drab, tiny house.

@SpencerG89 Reading what you wrote, I remembered back to one in Krasnodar. It had a gas water heater above the tub. Someone got up about 2 hours early to heat the water. Fortunately, we only stayed a few days. The whole affair was probably a death trap & everyone was expected to use the same bath water. The second one a few years later wasn't really Khrushchovka at all, & they had made it very nice.

@SpencerG89 Romania had it worse. But the ones I saw were very bad. Old soviet administrators that believed the state could raise better than a family so . . . rarely had anyone adopted. I saw a lotta hope in russia but a lot of what we see today too.
