Another way to think about it.... They were supposed to be secret and stealthy. Maybe the fact their exploits are known only to history buffs is a compliment

I remember watching a BBC documentary years ago on the X Craft. Not only could they find men to crew them. They had a LOT of applications and only picked the best of the bunch. Hardly surprising given the generation we are talking about. But still amazing.

Based on Stephen Ambrose 'D-Day' ... Yep. They also went over beforehand to take measurements and get samples of the beach. A wise measure that was a lesson learnt from the raid on France which I can't remember the name of. Which is very embarrassing. Diep? Something like that. I could Google it. But I'm useless with technology. I'd never find this comment again. Anyway. Hope that answers your question. "Yes, they were used"

It's called a joke... Sigh 🙄

First read the phrase in Tom Clancy 20+ years ago... Wonder who coined it?

This last week I started commenting on videos by 'WW2'. I've been asking for a collaboration with you Drach'. Indy and the team replied to my comments which I'm sure annoyed them a bit. Worth it if it means a video from my favourite history channels. Would you do a video with them? Please Pretty please... I take no pleasure in copy and pasting this onto the videos of yours that I'm re-watching. I take great pleasure in re-watching your videos! Thank you for the knowledge.

I believe the Cleveland class has been covered. The list is several years long now. But the soon to be covered ships are in the video description

An idea for a video for a X number of subscribers special Drach'.... A collection of some of the best anicdotes and stories that have been shared in the comments. Sar Jim has shared some excellent stories (for example)

You can bump a video up the list as a patron. But please don't call it very unique. Unique means one of a kind. Something can't be very one of a kind. Every American TV person or youtuber seems to say this phrase a lot. Its very confusing.

He's covered a lot of stuff about fleet subs. Some 5 min guides and some in questions in the drydock. The upshot as far as I can fathom (pun intended). Is that fleet submarines were all utterly useless. They were never and did never work in their intended role. But that's hardly anything new in warefare.

Nimrod, not sure the consumer would like the mortality stats 😂 would be funny to see them covered in mandatory 21st century levels of health and safety warning labels.

May need the buyer to sign a waver (pun intended). "I promise I won't sue you when I inevitably die or loose a limb". As a side note. What's drug smuggling got to do with ww2 submarines? 😂

Ironic considering most full size subs had one lol
