  1. ​ @marydavis5234 I think the point is that being a "world champion" means competing on a multi national level. Ie either the championship goes to multiple countries (in F1 for example 15+ has been the norm for decades). Or the championship is contested by international teams or representatives. Like the Olympics or the football (soccer) world cup.

  2. @Xia-hu  I wouldn't have said numbers are the point. More that the American sports are watched by Americans. So the world argument makes no sense.
