Curses to the freaking engineers who designed that rat bastard setup. This sort of crap is why I drive old pickup trucks. The best they could do is make the engines EASILY removable.. plug and play, if they have to fit em together like a chinese puzzle.

@BILL Ive quit 3 jobs, at which point within a couple months the business was forced to close their doors. When the employee makes the company function.. never say that leaving will not hurt the company in every case. One picks and chooses who you want to work for. If the folks who run the company are idiots..once you are gone... nothing keeps them afloat and they go down like the Titanic.

@MrOddball63 Lucas.. the Prince of Darkness.

Best of luck to you Ray. Now is the perfect time to open your own shop. You have the world view and skill sets to do very very well. I am personally looking forwards to the evolution. Just remember... sucessful workers never manage their own company. Hire someone to do the business/paperwork/banking and you do the skills. Ive seen far too many small businesses go tits up when the mechanic/tech tried to do both and ultimately screwed up the business end. Welders and machinists are notorious for this btw...

I hope you get the Dodge!

@Rekuzan Harbor Freight sells a good cotter pin kit btw... cheap enough too.

Indeed. Thats Macapherties Law, Third Postulate.

Ford is INSANE to design stuff that takes that much work to replace something so simple. WTF??!!!

Daaayyyaaam. Living in So. Cal, in the high desert... Ive never...ever seen a power steering line rusted away. Its always been the rubber parts. I forget the kind of tropical hells some of you folks live in. Road salt... is a killer.. wow.

When putting in 8 foot flourescent bulbs, go to the opposite end of the spring loaded end and push the bulb into the fixture distant spring loaded side then simply clip in your end. And many of those fixtures will NOT light up without both bulbs installed. Putting in only one will not turn them on. It depends on the ballast in the light fixture. Ive made a lot of service calls replacing (1) bulb and having the fixture come alive.

Put another leaf or 2 in each spring pack on your old trailer. Cost is minimal and you will get the trailer back up where it belongs. I added a single leaf to each side of my 5x12 cargo trailer and it carries a load a great deal better. They are often called "helper springs" and will set you back under $150 for the most expensive.

@frankvucolo6249 Why the heck didnt the manufactures put in a simple hatch? I certainly hope that wasnt designed in the US. The design engineers need to be taken out back and reminded (with the use of a club) that they are supposed to make a superior product.. not a piece of crap that is not a proper representative of their companys products.

I managed a security guard company that did oil field patrol and alarm response. We had 48 VWs, nearly all tricked out for off road work. Absolutely perfect for the job. Couldnt kill em and after 100,000 hard miles, we would pull an engine and drop in a freshly rebuilt one in 45 minutes. Patrol man would come in with a cripple, eat lunch and head back out with a fresh motor. Sigh... I miss those days.. way back in the 70s-mid 90s

You need to make up a 2 wheeled dolly (hand truck) with a battery(s) on the bottom and the inverters and some plugin boxes for the next hurricane. Be easy peasy to push around when you need it and easy to store. Easy build and will only take you a few hours to put it all together.

For your compressor...30 amp breaker at the least, #10 wire and make sure its turning in the right direction. From the parking lot side.. it should be turning clockwise if it not marked or labeled.. Worst comes to worst.. use your welding outlet breaker. Teflon tape should not be used if you have air tools or air solenoids. Use pipe dope instead. Keeps the bits of tape from winding up inside the air motors of your tools.

Northern rust or Hurrican Ian flood salt water rust? Not a heck of a lot under the truck is also rusty as we would find up in the Frozen and Salted North. (Grew up in Northern Michigan)

Time for another transmission. She is.. done. He really needs to consider buying an F250 with a bigger and beefier transmission in it.. but.. a new transmission will get him back to work.

The majority of braking effort is on the front tires, The steering is done at the front with the rear as a followup. New tires go to the front. Under and over steer generally shows up and is of a concern when "driving too fast for the conditions". This is only something either very experienced drivers will encounter.. or very poor drivers encounter. I live in a dry state so water on the roadway is not something we encounter nor is ice. We do however encounter loose sand and leafs and other loose debris.. and those are like snot.. it doesnt make a lot of of difference if the tire is brand new or a "maypop".. they will still break traction.

@UserUser-ww2nj I had an XKE for a short time. Quad carbs. Nice car.. ran well.. but I spend more time twiddling with it than driving it. Buddy has a XJ? Picked it up at an auction for pocket change, stuffed a Chevy 350 and tranny in it and never looked back. Another smart man.

This is the reason techs will keep a soldering gun in their gear. The small irons do not have enough heat to do a good fast solder job on big materials. Just saying. And your method of attachment... snicker.. but hey.. if it works for you. The stamped loop on the inside of each side of the clamp is where you are supposed to solder the ends of the wires. But.. good video Ray. Even as a warning to others ... chuckle.

400 Series Stainless exhaust system. Really need gas mig and proper wire. I do a lot of cast iron repairs and a fair amount of stainless. One of my migs is loaded with stainless wire and does the yoemans work on everything in the shop that isnt "iron" Btw.. there is another cracked part at 3 oclock from that clamp in the square tubing behind the pipe. Look for the 45' angle at the break. But as you say.. you saved people money so its a win Win!! Bravo!
