The best thing is to put them into a care facility. Yes, it will deplete their assets. It will only deplete THEIR assets, not yours. Once their assets are depleted, it will go onto the state (medicare/medicaid). There is no point to do the care yourself. No one can do it 24/7. When I was in college, we rotated shifts caring for my grandmother with dementia. My mother, myself, and a hired retired nurse all worked in shifts. My sister in high school also helped. It was a huge toll on all of us, especially my mother, because she lived with her and did overnights. My grandmother was aggressive, escaped, fought, shouted. It was ok in the beginning but over time it was unsafe. Just one example, she fell on my shift and I was unable to pick her back up, I did break the fall. I will be unable to take care of my mother, as she is even taller than my grandmother by several inches (I weigh just over 100 pounds, I can't lift that much weight).
